Clinical Volunteer Opportunities at InterFaith Health Clinic

PictureLongtime volunteer Carole Metz volunteers her skills as a nurse
With a paid staff of only twenty-four, the clinic couldn't exist without its core of volunteers. Over 100 people volunteer their services on-site and over 400 off site-volunteers see our patients. Each year, more than 6,000 volunteer hours are recorded on-site. Our faithful volunteers and staff work together to fulfill the mission laid before us by a Board of Directors. Local hospitals work closely with the clinic by providing lab work and accepting patients for hospitalization and diagnostic testing using our sliding fee scale.

While groups of non-clinical volunteers are occasionally needed for general projects such as painting, yardwork/maintenance, and clerical duties, our most pressing need is for clinical volunteers such as physicians, dentists, nurses, dental hygienists, specialists, etc. You may set your own volunteer schedule, and you can elect to see patients on-site at the clinic or in your own private office.

If you have questions about how you can volunteer at InterFaith, please see below for the appropriate person to contact.

Internships & Practicums

Due to InterFaith's large patient population and our small staff, we are typically not able to offer internships or practicum experience except in our mental health department. For information about our mental health intern position for master's level students, please contact InterFaith's mental health therapist, Brandon Swaim, at bswaim@interfaithhealthclinic.org or 865-546-7330.

Sweets to the Sweet Delivery Drivers:  Coming up in February is our 14th Annual Sweets to the Sweet Valentine’s Day fundraiser. We will be looking for volunteer drivers to assist us in 3 hour shifts to deliver bundtlets in Knoxville. InterFaith’s annual Sweets to the Sweet fundraiser provides a personal delivery of a bundtlet (from Nothing Bundt Cakes in Bearden) to a friend, colleague, or “sweetie” of your choice, and each $50 bundtlet purchased sponsors one health care visit for a working, uninsured patient at InterFaith.  Our goal this year is to deliver 800 bundt cakes all over the Knoxville area and we couldn’t do this without our volunteers! A GPS is helpful and some volunteers prefer to deliver in pairs.
NEED: volunteer delivery drivers on Tuesday, February 14th for a 3-hour (approx.) shift. A sign-up link will be posted in early January. For more information, please contact Ann Pierce at 865-243-303 or apierce@interfaithhealthclinic.org
